Our home: wild kingdom

We live in town. In a city. The major artery of our little town goes right past our neighborhood. It would take us only 5 minutes to walk to Main Street. We have "city water" and the garbage men pick up our trash.

Animals are oblivious to this, and I love it. Deer, racoons, rabbits, snakes, lizards, and all manner of bugs and birds (Including a goose! More on this later...)
Here's a snake we came across one evening on a walk. Thankfully, he was dead. I say this for two reasons: one, because he's a snake and two, because it gave us an opportunity to get the camera. (I also picked it up!)

Another day we were horrified, then intrigued to discover that a colony of ants had moved in under one of our porch chair cushions. If you look closely you can see the ants (dark) and their eggs (light.) We exposed them to the bright sunlight and they cleared those eggs out of there in seconds flat! We put the chair back on the porch, pleased with our efforts. The next day, you guessed it, they were back - in the other chair!

We've also had two little rabbits frequenting our yard, but I've not been quick enough to catch a picture. Not that I haven't tried...
