The Great Rice Race

For the last two weeks, we've been studying Japan. Some things we learned were about Mt. Fuji, how to count in Japanese, and Commodore Perry. And we learned about what they eat-and how they eat it, which is with chopsticks. So for fun, Mom decided to have a Chopstick Face-Off! We each had a pair of chopsticks, and there was a plate of rice in the middle. On "go," we tried to pick up as many pieces of rice as we could before time ran out. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, think again. For one, Buddy couldn't master the utensils, so he had his own style that was different from me and Mom. And, on the first round, we set the timer for too long-our hands began to hurt! But other than those two flaws, the Great Face-Off was really fun-Buddy won Round One, I won round Two, and Mom won Round Three. (at least that's how I'm scoring it) The top picture shows us three champions after the race. The bottom picture may look like part of the competition, but it's really just a practice. By Sis

was the rice cooked? That's much easier. scoop it like a spoon almost.

I learned chopsticks the first time I picked them up. drove Mykie crazy. I can't eat Asian food without them. it just doesn't taste right.
