The past week here has been a science lesson in winter weather! We started out last Sunday with some snow. Then came the sleet, rain (with plenty of fog!), freezing rain, and more snow. And more snow. And more snow! The public schools have been out all week - even the university closed down one day. Many people have been without power. Thankfully our electricity never went out and we have been able to get wherever we have needed to go. We have also managed to do some school work every day, after some time spent out in the snow. The big kids have made a snow fort and snow balls (which are almost indestructible now, thanks to all the ice) shoveled our driveway and the neighbor's (numerous times) and had more than a few cups of cocoa. (It was also nice to have the joy and excitement of the weather to off-set our sadness over Uncle Larry.) Here are some highlights:
A nice layer of ice
Topped off with snow
Sis in the snow fort
We asked the kids not to throw these at each other - they are pure ice!
Buddy shoveling - again! (I think he cleared the driveway 3 times!)
Icicles and broken branches
The storm is over, but this stuff's not going anywhere fast
