First Time for Everything

The big kids attended a funeral today. They had been to visitations before, but never a funeral. First time. It was hard. We lost a good friend to our family, church, and community. I'm not sure what all Buddy was thinking - it will slowly come out over the next few days - but he seemed surprised to see "Uncle Larry" in the coffin. Sissy cried a lot and said she never wanted to go to another funeral ever again. If only...

my first visitation was my pastor when I was in college and not too long after that, my first funeral was my grandma. neither one a good experience. I didn't know my pastor's body was going to be at the visitation. hated that. And at grandma's funeral, I saw my grandad cry for the first time. That was aweful.

i don't even want a funeral. I know it's good for the "survivors," but... don't have me laying there. I want to be cremated anyway.

funerals just suck anyway.

Crying can be a very good thing Stephanie. I wish I did it more, actually.
